Wow. Yeah. I agree - the repeated "any little sign" bit is very, very powerful. Poor girl.
So how come Crane never gets to see Rosethorn's compassionate, sweet, vulnerable side, and always gets the harsh, thorny side? :(
I love it. A great insight into Rosethorn's emotions and motivations, as always with your work. And very touching, too. -sniff-
