She lay in Claude's arms as he gave himself over to the daysleep, still and obedient as she fought the breaking of her heart.

Ceridwyn had left early in the night, giving some small excuse about having things to take care of. She didn't mention where she was going, or how, or really why, just that she was, and that was all.

Nicolette had nodded, and reached out to squeeze her hand. Ceridwyn had flinched, pulling away, seeming barely aware of what she was doing. Everything was so clear in that moment, so painfully clear, so Nicolette had smiled for her lover, even though her heart was screaming, begging her not to go.

Now, in the early hours of the morning, her balance was gone. Her sire needed her, still clung to her like the man-child he would always be. So she let him hold her as she fell, spinning out of control, held down and torn apart between the man she loved and the woman she was coming to love and the fact that she couldn't really help either.
