{Rosethorn} Teaser - Now I Know My Duty

wayfarers_lodgeOOC I know y'all are waiting for this. So here's a little teaser that I wrote up while I was working on it.
I AM actually also working on Meme pieces, as well. I promise.

...Madden groaned as she lifted him, eyes flickering open. She smiled, lips twisted with more sorrow than she intended, and kissed what remained of his hair gently.
"Hey, my Hierarch." she murmured, voice soft.
"Rosethorn..." he muttered softly, "Everything hurts."
"I know it does, Madden, I know. But don't worry, i'll make it better..."
He nodded painfully, eyes closing as he lapsed back into unconsciousness. As she chanted to open the road to Shadow, she realised how light he was in her arms- almost as nothing compared to the weight of the new sapphire ring on her left hand, or the mantle of the duty she knew she had to fulfill.
She cradled Madden close to her chest as she crossed over, and whispered to his dreams.
"Don't worry, love. I'm not going anywhere..."
